About Steven Dieringer Photography

nature phtography: mountainsI grew up in northern rural Illinois (Momence), lived in Denver, Colorado for three (3) years, and I’ve now been living in Nashville for 29 years. With age, I have learned to appreciate and enjoy the diversity of this wonderful planet we call home — whatever part of it we live in.

Taking Good Advice

I have spent most of my life in the hospitality industry, and not particularly enjoying the vast majority of it. Many years ago, I heard two statements that, while taking many years to take effect, have changed my life.

The first quote is a bit of sage advice given to Kathy Lee Gifford by her father: Choose something you love, and then find a way to make a living at it.

The second is from George Burns, who was asked by Johnny Carson, What do you believe is the source of your vitality at your advanced age? His answer was, You’ve got to have a job you love, a reason to get excited about getting out of bed in the morning!

nature phtography: mountainsFor me, that work is photography; specifically, all things nature. The more time I spend in natural surroundings, the more I am amazed with God’s imagination! Photographing and preserving specific moments in time is only part of it. It is the very journey itself – the journey leading me to a photo op moment, and the continuing journey leading me to the next – that makes it complete.

My goal is to experience as much of life and creation as possible; my hope is to bring you along!
